Alam mo minsan, naiisip ko baka nga mildly autistic ako. Or… baka naman “reflective” lang ako.

“Reflective” my ass. Haha. Pero sige, reflective as in pala-isip? Thinker? Ano ka, inaanalyze mo bawat galaw ng mga tao sa paligid mo mula sa pakikipag-usap nila sa isa’t-isa hanggang sa pangungulangot nila at pagpahid nila ng kulangot sa pader?

Yak. Ang graphic naman. Pero… oo at hindi. Come to think of it, baka hindi naman “reflective” ang tamang term. (teka, pag reflective ka ba ano’ng tawag sa ‘yo? “Reflector”?)

Gago! Magmasid, hindi mamboso! Ganito… nanonood ako ng PBA at NBA, pero hindi ako naglalaro ng basketbol sa ganun. Minsan na nga lang ako maglaro ngayon, pero madalas ako manood at mag-analyze. Madami akong pinakikinggang music, pero hindi ako musikero; sinusulat ko lang kung ano ang mga puna ko sa mga pinakikinggan ko. Marami din akong pinapanood na movies, pero hindi ako filmmaker; sinusulat ko lang kung ano ang napupuna ko sa mga napapanood ko.

Ang point ay, there are people who like doing things, and there are people who like watching people do those things that they do. That’s their thing - watching how life works and why it’s like that. I think I’m intuitive in way, in that sense, moreso on some people than on others though.

Ahhh… (patay ni-ingles na ako) Pare, that was deep. Pero kahit na, serious ka pa din talaga.

Mejo. I have a weird memory, and I have a lot of mental lapses - lalo na when I’m doing things that I don’t really ‘feel’.

Weird memory? Hindi ba either you have good memory or bad memory? Ano ka alien?

Chong, weird memory talaga. I usually forget recent things, but remember things that happened a long time ago. Para bang olats yung short-term memory ko tapos sharp yung long-term.

Wow pare, weird ka nga.

Sabi sa yo eh. Pero hindi ako alien.

Duh. So, how short is short-term and how long is long-term?

Hindi ko ma-quantify eh. Basta minsan may kausap ako, tapos may maaalala akong thing na dati dati pa nangyari, tapos siya wala siyang recollection sa bagay na yun. Actually, a lot of what I remember are mundane stuff. Or, maybe mundane to most people.

Mundane? As in Mundane, Tuesdane, Wednesdane, Thursdane…

Ok fine. Ako naman yung corny.

Haha. Pero seryoso, alam mo naman ang ibig sabihin ng ‘mundane’?

Yup. Mundane as in common and trivial. So, ang lagay eh, kung may gusto akong ipagawa sa yo, dapat sabihin ko sa yo waaaay beforehand para umakyat ang chances na maalala mo siya?

Parang ganun na nga sa tingin ko.

Ahhh. Sige ha, yung mga hiniram mong CDs last year, pakisoli na next year ha?

Hahahaha! Sige sige.

Hindi nga, seryoso ako. Antagal ko nang gustong pakinggan ulit yun eh.

Waw men… may brain damage ka na ata. Patingin mo na yan.

Wala akong brain damage. My mind just works differently. Unconventionally. I have poor memory, but I remember things in the past that most people have already long forgotten. I’m slow, but I’m able to eventually process complex data.

Sooo… ang sinasabi mo eh… computer ka?

Tae. Wag na nga tayong magusap.

Eh ganun ang pagkakasabi mo eh! Memory… data… processing. Ano yun? Computer diba??

Haay. Ang sinasabi ko lang eh hindi gumagana ang utak ko in conventional ways. Or at least, sa konting tao lang ako talagang kumokonek. As in same wavelength… kindred spirits… ganun.

Ahh. kumbaga Mac ka at hindi Microsoft PC?

Hindi. Ako. Computer! Pero sige, for analogies sake, parang ganun na nga. Actually, yan din siguro ang isa sa mga dahilan kung bat mahilig akong magmasid sa ibang tao.

Kasi konti lang nakakagets sa yo? Kasi konti lang nagegets mo?

Erm… maybe. Or maybe I’m just in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing.

So ano yung right thing?

(blank stare) …dude, you totally lost me.

Ang ibig sabihin ng “Aye, there’s the rub” eh parang “Yan nga lang ang prublema” So ang ibig sabihin ko eh, based sa pinaguusapan natin, let’s say I am doing the wrong thing and maybe I am in the wrong place, but seriously, I don’t what is the right thing and the right place.

Ahhhh… haay nako, yan ang dahilan kung bat may mga hindi maka-gets sa yo eh. Cryptic ka kasi magsalita. Matalinhaga. Don’t complicate things chong. Keep it simple.

Hehe. Yeah I know. But what can I do? I’m a nerd, I’m a geek.

The Pen…

I’ve always been a frustrated writer.

Song writer, novelist, screenwriter… name it, I’ve tried it. The songwriting part, I have something to show for. The screenwrting part, maybe I’ve got a scene or two. Novel? Eh… maybe I should try short stories first.

Maybe I’d post them here. *shrugs*

Oh, and an interesting bit… Me and a couple of officemates are going to be attending a business writing workshop in a few weeks. Now, business writing is a far cry from creative writing, but I suppose the foundations are the same. I could probably learn a thing or two from that…

Discoveries

See, this is one of the reasons why I watch Rockstar: Supernova, American Idol, and similar shows. Not really for the contestants; that’s secondary. I watch it for the music.

Anyone who knows me fairly well - or even a bit - knows that I’m a music junkie. And these show just fan the flame, so to speak. Simply another way to discover new music. Honestly, I prefer Rockstar: Supernova over AI since I’m a rock person by nature.

From last season’s AI, I can name only two songs that really stuck to me: “You Send Me” (a Sam Cooke original, which was performed by Taylor Hicks) and “A Song For You” (a Donnie Hathaway original, which was performed by the person who should’ve been American Idol - Elliot Yamin)

As of now, three weeks into Rockstar:Supernova,  I’ve already discovered a handful of songs that are really really great! On top of the list is “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane. I liked the song so much that I listened to the entire album where it was on (Surrealistic Pillow, 1967). Another one of the songs in there, “Somebody To Love”, was also performed in the show already, so hitting two birds with one stone na yun.

And here’s what I love the most about it! For FRIENDS fanatics, here’s a bit of trivia: Track #9 on that album Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane is entitled “Embryonic Journey” - It’s the track that was used on the last scene, of the last episode, of the last season of Friends I was listening to it, tapos natunugan ko that it was familar… then it hit me that that was it!

Then aside from Jefferson Airplane, there are songs by The Black Crowes, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Billy Joel, and the list will go on and on as the show progresses. I do hope they stop it with overdoing Nirvana and Rolling Stones songs…
