Twisted
September 26, 2007I swear I have such a polarized taste in music. Of course I also have a polarized personaility. but then that's another story. May bi-polar disorder kaya ako? baka kahit mild? wow… that adds to my theory that I am mildy autistic, slightly schizophrenic, and now I have a mild bi-polar disorder… anyway… I'm digressing… and getting absurd (mild bi-polar autism *raises eyebrow*).
As I was saying… I swear, I have such a polarized taste in music. As I have been blogging about recently, I'm totally into this metal phase right now, and I'm even listening to extreme metal such as death metal.
And what am I listening to right now as I type? Twee.
What is twee? Well, it's sweet and gentle music that could be characterized as being overly quaint, dainty, cute or nice.
death metal… twee… death metal… twee… death metal… twee…
Does not compute.
And throw in a healthy dose of classical to boot: some Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Wagner and the like.
If I had to do a scene in my head that would characterize the music I've been listening to right now, it would be something that sort of starts of as a cartoony sketch (cue Twee music) with the sun shining brightly up in the clear blue sky as it showers its warmth down on a calm and gentle field of green. Then there would be rabbits hopping along, some butterflies fluttering about, and other various cute animals playing around… think Bambi… but cuteified. And then, (cue Metal music) this shining silver sword would come flying, spinning out of nowhere as it slices cleanly through one of the rabbit's necks before it lodges itself firmly on the ground as the blood drips slowly down its shaft. Afterwards, as the rest of the animals scatter out, the angel of the apocalypse would come flying up, and with a wave of her hand, a thick layer of clouds form and block out the sun, covering the entire place in pale gray. Then, from either side of the horizon, an army of vikings, ghouls, demons, orcs and every scary monster from Lord of the Rings would form and charge towards each other in an epic battle until all that's left in the battlefield standing upright is that solitary sword sticking up from the ground… still with warm blood dripping from its shaft. Finally, (cue Classical music) the earth starts to mourn all the violence and death that it has witnessed; and in time, the barren land starts to wash away the gore and blood that was spilled. The clouds again thin away as they let the sun shine again. The grass grows, the flowers bloom, and the few survivors from the apocalypse start to bring life into the world once again… … … …Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
…
…
…
I don't know if it's necessarily a scary thing that I was able to whip up and type out that twisted and fucked up scene in my head in a matter of 5 minutes O.o Scary and absurd.
I read it again and yup… it does do justice to the listening phase I've been going through right now.
