I Will Follow You Into the Dark
October 5, 2007(I'll post a YouTube link when I get home. For now, you guys do your own searching for the song.)
Here's a dark, yet very gentle and beautiful love song.
You can do everything you want to do in this world of our ours, but when you love someone deep enough to "follow that person into the dark", then I guess that's when you know it's for real and for keeps.
Don't you guys get the feeling that the stronger parts of "for better or worse, for richer or poorer" are the "or worse" and "or poorer" parts? …because it's so easy to stay together when you're good and happy… I suppose sticking with the one you truly love… even through the worst of times… that's what matters most.
Alam ko madrama ako madalas dito sa blog, but I'm rarely explicitly expressive. Here's one of those rare times.
For Mau.
I Will Follow You Into the Dark
by Death Cab For CutieLove of mine
Someday you will die
But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark
No blinding light
Or tunnels to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight
Waiting for the hint of a sparkIf heaven and hell decide
That they both are satisfied
And illuminate the "No"s
On their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the darkIn catholic school
As vicious as Roman rule
I got my knuckles bruised
By a lady in black
And I held my tongue
As she told me, "Son,
Fear is the heart of love"
So I never went backIf heaven and hell decide
That they both are satisfied
And illuminate the "No"s
On their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the darkYou and me
Have seen everything to see
From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes
Are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
But it's nothing to cry about
Because we'll hold each other soon
In the blackest of roomsIf heaven and hell decide
That they both are satisfied
And illuminate the "No"s
On their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Then I'll follow you into the dark
