Bangkok Part 1
January 6, 2008I was supposed to do this one-time-big-time. However, ang trabaho eh… and your connections would have a hard time loading all the photos, so it would be better to split this up into several entries. This is a recap of pretty much the entire Bangkok trip in pictures and commentary… and there’s a whole lot of pictures since I had my Aida with me, mama had her Ixus - which was used mostly by Jet - and there was also my old Powershot. All in all, there are around 700 pics uploaded HERE.
WARNING: clicking the link below will bring you to the long, photo-HEAVY, full version of this blog entry. People on dial-up, consider yourselves warned. ^_^
This was my first trip out of the country, so that’s something. I was planning on take shitload of cool artsy photos, but I quickly realized that the focus of the trip was more of roaming around urban Bangkok and shopping rather that sightseeing; so, we all just took whatever photos we could and just shopped a lot. I’m hardly a shopaholic, but I will say this: Bangkok will make you shop. Hehe.
Anyway… here is the trip in photos and commentary:

That’s Golda as we were packing our stuff. The dog somehow knows that we’re leaving and gonna be gone for a while… she looked quite sad.

On our way to the airport.

We parked our vehicle in Park N Fly and they had a shuttle service to bring us the rest of the way to NAIA.

The NAIA international departures check-in. That’s us at the leftmost of the photo. Minus me of course… durh…

I took this so that everyone could see how freaking early we were. You can’t see it but the flight was scheduled for 9:20pm. This picture was taken at 5:17pm.

waiting… waiting… waiting… waiting…
mama reading up on Thailand, Jop making the most out the laptop and the wifi connection in the airport, me playing with Mau’s PSP, papa reading my copy of "No Country For Old Men", and Jet taking pics.

I just like how this pic of Jop looks sharp in the foreground and then blurry in the background. Sorta helps the foreground "float".

After a while, when I realized that I’ll have to save the battery of the PSP for the 3-hour trip, I got up, walked around and took photos around the place. Such as this one…

…and this one… of more waiting… (by this time, mama already went on a found a vacant line of chairs to sleep on)…

…but apparently, we weren’t the only ones who had a long wait. Hehehe.

Boarding. Finally. We were on a flight to Bangkok that had only 33 passengers. Sarap.

Us on the plane. Woohoo, window seat!

This isn’t the best example of it, but I must say that the view from the plane of citylights at night is purrrrrty…

Fresh out of the plane. Kadadating lang sa Suvarnabh airport in Bangkok, which is LEAGUES better than NAIA.
Okay… checking out of the airport… roll-call!

…and me of course behind the cam. Okay, everyone accounted for. ^_^

We availed of this airport taxi service to bring the five of us and all of our luggage to the hotel we were staying in. Quite pricey, but considering that there were five of us, there were seven pieces of luggage (excluding hand-carry), we were in a foreign country, the hotel was around 30 minutes of free driving away and that we were driven there by a nice van… it was okay.

Right-hand drive! (I know I wasn’t the one driving; but being a passenger, it still needed some getting used to) Actually, Thailand seems to strongly adhere to British standards…They follow the metric system, they call an elevator a "lift", they have right-hand drive and they address a woman as "Madam"… among other things.

For some reason, natagalan yung check-in. This is us sibs in the hotel lobby. Yeah, I’m in front of the PC. Hehe. Free internet naman eh. Better than nothing to do ^_^

I really like the design of the rooms we got. Funkeeeeeh. \m/

They had this sort of master control gadget thing on the side-table.It controled everything in the room: The lights, the aircon, the TV (ncluding the volume and channels). And since it was already past midnight, we just lounged around a bit, checked the stuff around the rooms, wound-down by watching TV… reading… surfing… PSPing… until we all eventually went to sleep.
Thus ends Part 1 of this recap. ^_^ I leave you with this friendly reminder posted on the door of the hotel room. ^_^
