upgraded

January 12, 2008

After twenty million years…

…I finally upgraded to a cellphone that’s in tune with the times.

Sometime last year, I had to change my very old Nokia 3315 (aka "relic") because its LCD was already screwed up. Now, my old trusty Nokia 1100 (on the left) had to be replaced also because for some reason, di na siya maka-detect ng signal so it lmost always had no network coverage. The replacement is that new SE k500i (on the right).

I have nothing against technology - it would actually be weird if I did, considering in what industry I’m in. But as far as I’m concerned, I have only two (scratch that. four pala. hehehe.) uses for a cellphone: To make and receive calls, and to send and receive messages. Aside from that, the miscellaneous things like the alarm clock, calculator, reminders, etc… they also come in handy. Now, just to play around with the modern features that new phones have and see for myself what I could do with them, I got a relatively new phone. Not that expensive (it’s still under 10K) but not at all archaic like my previous phones.

Oh, and because the phone also has that blog-a-photo feature, I have a blogspot blog now setup exclusively for mobile photoblogging. Hehe. Gonna put that link on the sidebar.

smiles

January 9, 2008

I have this disagreement with Mau regarding smiles in photos. Most people kasi, may pagka-"manufactured" ang dating ng "photo face" nila. How do I explain this… hmmm… Think of it this way: Madaming sitcom sa TV ang gumagamit ng "canned laughter" tsaka "canned applause" diba? Like when you watch Friends or Will & Grace; everytime a funny situation occurs, you hear the standard laughter over the audio. It works, but it’s just not natural.

Same thing with this gripe I have with simles in photos. Some smiles just don’t seem natural. Other people though, they have their photo face perfected down to how their head is inclined and all the little details - so mukhang natural talaga yung ngiti. In most people though, I personally prefer the natural smile of the face. Yung tipong smile na nakikita mo pag naglolokohan kayong magkakaibigan, then someone cracks this hilarious joke and everyone ends up smiling and laughing. Yun, yung smiles na ganun. Yung pati yung eyes ngumingiti.

That’s very important, dapat yung eyes ngumingiti din.. ^_^ <- ganyan oh.

I suppose that’s why I prefer shooting candid, dun mo kasi nahuhuli yung natural na moments eh. Oh well, that’s just personal preference, and like I said, Mau and I don’t see eye-to-eye on that. She prefers the standard praticed smile - but to each his.her own, right?

In line with that, just to serve as filler pics for last four days na wala akong PAD posts, here are four choice portraits. (May pic ako dyan. I am NOT photogenic.)
